Posting something a little different today: SOOC vs Edited. Every photographer's editing style is a bit different. Some enjoy using presets in Lightroom, and some of us (me, the perfectionist) enjoy editing individual photos in Photoshop. In any case, I've always been drawn to rich and vibrant editing- merely enhancing the original image. When shooting, I try to get the light just right so I have minimal retouching to do in Photoshop.

I loved this quick shoot with Kristina- from trusting me with red glittery eyeshadow, smearing it all over her lips, to humoring me and getting up on the back of this truck (which was no small feat). You can see from the original that the truck wasn't even on, but a quick light overlay and boom! It's lit. ;)

A dog in his Blazer

Between Hans and Gina, which would you say is more fashion forward? I'd say it was a tossup. I absolutely loved that Gina was so on board with an impromptu photoshoot, and one that involved dressing up her stud of a Pup. If you need modeling lessons, we can see if either of them have time in their books. After all, they killed this shoot.

Josh & Chelsea, the two of you have become such important people in my life. Much like an older brother and sister. I'm so happy I can be apart of your love story and I cannot wait for the wedding of the century. There were so many moments I wanted to share from your engagement photos- but here's just a few favorites. Can't wait for y'all to see the rest!

And the moment you all have been waiting for... the link to this incredible Mountain Getaway. And don't worry, you don't have to scroll to the end of this blogpost to find it. But please, take a moment and give my girl Aly some love because she killed this boudoir shoot.

Luxury Dome Suite with Endless Sunset Views

This weekend in Asheville was exactly what I needed. From sunbathing in the nude, enjoying a warm shower outside, relaxing in the most luxurious bathtub I've ever set foot in or even gazing at the stars through a telescope. The owners were incredibly sweet and accommodating- as well as their purrfect little Bengals who love to adventure around the property. The dome is only a 15 minute drive from the city, however, make sure you've got AWD because the trek up is quite steep- but SO worth it.

Apparently I only post annually, so here's to 2020's post of the year. Couldn't have chosen a more beautiful and vibrant gal to photograph and feature on the blog. Meet Lane: a real boss babe with her own brow bizz, Browology (located off 8th Ave). I was ecstatic when Lane reached out and wanted to collaborate and I am THRILLED with how these photos turned out. My favorite thing to do before a shoot is style my client (which usually consists of raiding my own closet and trying on about 10 different outfits) and kind of winging it on the location. The end result has yet to disappoint.

Meet the gal in front of the camera:

"My space is earth conscious. So, I’m implementing practices in my studio that are reducing unnecessary waste while staying compliant with sanitation & sterilization protocols. I use silicone brushes and q-tips to apply & clean up my tint & enhancement solutions to avoid plastic waste from disposables. I use an antimicrobial wax pad to avoid table paper waste. I recycle all of my boxes and plastic containers & donate most to the Goodwill. I sanitize and donate my brow spoolies from brow services to Wands for Wildlife. I plan to continue finding eco friendly practices that are safe for my space & my clients.

I’ve been a full body waxing specialist for men & women & minors for over 2 years. I’m LGBTQ friendly. I practice very strict Covid-19 sanitation & sterilization guidelines.

I love what I do and making people feel and look their best is my purpose. Seeing their smile getting off my treatment table after a service is what fuels my passion."

Red: as of blood, fire or the box of cheap Cabernet Sauvignon waiting for you at home.

The color of extremes: love and excitement. Violence and rage. It's the color of danger that once triggered our primal instincts. Today, it's the color of the bouquet of roses we give to our loved ones. Subsequently, it's the color we resonate with when said loved ones have failed us.

But red can also signify empowerment. Dress her in red and she is bold and intimidating.

Yellow: as of sun, lemons or...

the passive aggressive post-it note your roommate left you.

Of all the colors, yellow is the most luminous. Associated with warmth and happiness. It is the morning sun and runny yolks.   Although despite its' happy trademarks, it is also the color of caution or physical illness, but once we have endured these tribulations we are met with optimism yet again.

In yellow, she is the portrayal of unadulterated joy. She is sunshine on a rainy day. She illuminates the room.

Blue: as of water, sky and the blue jeans you grew out of.

Blue is the color we embrace as heaven and peace. Blue calms the psyche. But just as much as blue calms, it also stirs. It is the color of rain or the empty feeling in the pit of our stomach. Blue is the movement of water and whatever form it takes. At times it is still, tranquil, or just the calm before the storm. However unpredictable it is, we face it with grace.

Dress her in blue and she is ethereal. She is graceful and dainty. She is a breath of fresh air.
